CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Mani called to the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. B. ROLL CALL: Present 7- Tony Chamberlain, Becky Rudolph, Daniel Bukowski, Ganesh Kar, Arun Mani, Abdechafi Boubkir, and Joel See Absent 3- Yugin Wang, Neelam Saboo, and Navya Shah C. PUBLIC FORUM: D. OLD BUSINESS: E. REPORTS: 1. Welcome newly appointed Commissioner See to the Sister Cities Commission Arun Mani, Chair welcome our newly appointed Commissioner, Dr.Joel See to the Sister Cities Commission. 2. Receive information on a Monarch Butterly Project and plan that connects to our Sister City in Patzcuaro, Mexico Commissioner See introduced the Monarch Butterfly Project and the short and long term goals around this project. Commissioner See led the discussion on identifying land to create a garden, maintenance of the garden, sustainability, signage to promote our organization and identifying other potential locations. Ben Mjolsness, Sustainability Manager for the City of Naperville joined the discussion and he has met with the Homeowner's Association for Brookdale and they are on board to discuss an agreement to provide land. 3. Sister Cities upcoming topics and events Commissioner Rudolph looked into the Student Leadership Summit Program and organizers want a recommendation letter from the Commission. A suggestion would be to set a criteria that a student would have to meet in order for us to recommend a student for this program. Commissioner Rudolph suggests setting this as a future agenda item. NEW BUSINESS: City of Naperville Page 1 Printed on 7/30/2025 Sister Cities Commission Meeting Minutes - Final April 9, 2025 Chairman Mani announced that Commissioner Chamberlain is attending Illinois Sister Cities Association one-day conference on May 3rd, adding that it will be a great time to interact and network. Commissioners discussed creating a funding request form to provide to the Foundation. The form should include project plans, funding requirements and what type of support we need from the Foundation. G.
