Sister Cities Commission Meeting Minutes - Final August 13, 2025
A. CALL TO ORDER:
Chairman Mani called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m.
B. ROLL CALL:
Present 7- Becky Rudolph, Yugin Wang, Daniel Bukowski, Joel See , Arun Mani, Tony
Chamberlain, and Ashfaq Syed
Absent 2- Ganesh Kar, and Abdechafi Boubkir
C. PUBLIC FORUM:
There were no speakers under Public Forum.
D. OLD BUSINESS:
E. REPORTS:
1. Approve the Sister Cities minutes of June 17, 2025
A motion was made by Commissioner Rudolph and seconded by Commissioner
Bukowski to approve the Sister Cities minutes of June 17, 2025. Motion passed by
voice vote.
2. Receive board and commission member training
Commissioners received the 2025 Naperville Board and Commission Member
Training provided by Marcie Schatz, the Assistant to the City Manager's Office.
3. Review the roles and responsibilities of the Naperville Sister Cities Commission and
Sister Cities Foundation
Motion was made by Commissioner Chamberlain and seconded by
Commissioner Bukowski to HOLD the item until the next meeting. Motion passed
by voice vote.
4. Receive the update on the Monarch habitat project and request $1,000 in funding from
the Sister Cities Foundation
Commissioner See led the discussion on the Monarch Butterfly Project.
Commissioners and Staff reviewed topics including costs, signage, volunteer
involvement, and ongoing maintenance. .
Motion was made by Commissioner Chamberlain, seconded by Commissioner
Bukowski to approve the request for $1,500 from Sister Cities Foundation for
plantings for the Monarch Butterfly Project. Motion passed by a roll call vote.

5. Update on advancing student exchange opportunities

Sister Cities Commission Meeting Minutes - Final August 13, 2025
Commissioner Chamberlain will continue the Student Exchange Program to
2026 with plans to reach out to schools and our Sister City partners.

A motion was made by Chairman Mani, seconded by Commissioner Wang to
adjourn the meeting at 7:47 p.m. Motion passed by voice vote.
