A special meeting of the Board of Aldermen was held Monday, November 18, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the
Aldermanic Chamber for the purpose of conducting recounts of the ballots cast for Ward 3 and Ward 4
Alderman at the November 5, 2013 municipal general election.
President Brian S. McCarthy presided; Deputy City Clerk Patricia Piecuch recorded.
Prayer was offered by Deputy City Clerk Patricia Piecuch, Alderman Caron leading in the Pledge to the
Flag.
The roll call was taken with 12 members of the Board of Aldermen present; Alderman Melizzi-Golja,
Alderman Donchess and Alderman Vitale arrived after roll call.
Mayor Donnalee Lozeau and Corporation Counsel Stephen M. Bennett were also in attendance:

CLERK’S COMMUNICATION FOR THE WARD 7 SELECTMAN, WARD 8 SELECTMAN, AND WARD 8
CLERK RACES OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF NOVEMBER 5, 2013 BE DECLARED FINAL AND
CONCLUSIVE, AND THAT ALLISON NUTTING, WILFRED CAOUETTE, AND DEREK THIBEAULT, BE
DECLARED ELECTED BY VOICE VOTE FOR THE ENSUING TERM FOR THE OFFICES OF WARD 7
SELECTMAN, WARD 8 SELECTMAN, AND WARD 8 CLERK, RESPECTIVELY

The order of business tonight is the recount of the election for Ward 3 and Ward 4 Alderman. In accordance
with the City Charter and the rules already adopted, I will ask the Mayor to open the sealed ballot boxes and
the Deputy City Clerk will supervise the recount. This board will be in recess and will reconvene to make a
ruling if necessary on any challenged ballots.
The Board recessed at 6:37 p.m.
Mayor Donnalee Lozeau opened the sealed ballot boxes from Ward 3 and Ward 4 in accordance with Sec.
26 of the City Charter. The election night returns from Ward 3 and Ward 4 were examined.

The Board of Aldermen reconvened at 8:00 p.m.
MOTION BY ALDERMAN CHASSE THAT THE RESULTS RECORDED ON THE CITY CLERK’S
RECORD OF RETURNS FOR THE WARD 3 ALDERMANIC RACE AND THE WARD 4 ALDERMANIC
RACE AT THE MUNICIPAL GENERAL ELECTION OF NOVEMBER 5, 2013 BE DECLARED FINAL AND
CONCLUSIVE, AND THAT DAVID SCHONEMAN AND PAMELA T. BROWN HAVING RECEIVED THE
LARGEST NUMBER OF VOTES CAST FOR THE OFFICE BE DECLARED ELECTED FOR THE OFFICE
OF WARD 3 ALDERMAN AND WARD 4 ALDERMAN, RESPECTIVELY, BY VOICE VOTE FOR THE
ENSUING TERM
