AMBULANCE ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES August 15, 2013 9:00 AM Meeting held at: Division of Public Health & Community Services 18 Mulberry Street Nashua, NH 03060 Meeting called to order at 9:07 a.m. by Kerran Vigroux, DPHCS Director AAC Members Present: Kerran Vigroux, Director, Public Health & Community Services Richard Conway, Captain, Nashua Fire Department Mark Hastings, Southern NH Medical Center AMR Representatives: Christopher Stawasz, AMR Patty, AMR Members were given Minutes from the June 2013 meeting; the AMR Reports for June and July and the 2nd quarter CQI report and the Agenda for the August 15, 2013 meeting. Motion made to accept the Minutes from the June 20, 2013 meeting Mark Hastings accepted the Motion. Rich Conway seconded the Motion All in favor – Unanimous Minutes Approved AMR Operations Manager’s Report Chris reviewed the monthly reports. AMR is now doing a nationwide CQI report and will be able to compare against others across the country and establish benchmarks. AMR is currently updating the process for communicating with Medical Directors. There are new sections added to the monthly reports: pain and suffering; cardiac arrest; ventilation; respiratory and major trauma. Although there may not be current national benchmarks for some, such as pain and suffering, they will look at the data over time to analyze trends with the goal of improving patient outcomes. Kerran asked that Chris add a list of acronyms and explanations of titles as these are public documents and we would like to make them as clear as possible. Chris agreed and will work on that for the next meeting. There has been a change in procedures regarding the use of backboards. They will now only be used for extrication. Chris will change the patient satisfaction pie chart to a bar graph in future reports to better show the information. Patty reviewed the work that AMR has been engaged in for community service including: working with Nashua Emergency Management on VOAD, LEPC and HERC; Safety and Wellness Fairs – Summer Safety, Blood Pressures and Diabetes; 4th of July – bike team; Fairy Tale Festival; Touch-A-Truck; Kids Camp – What EMS is; Hands Only CPR – BAE, community trainings; and National Night Out. September 17th AMR is sponsoring a community cookout from 11-2 at the Labine Park Social. They will be working with the Nashua Soup Kitchen and H.E.A.R.T.S. September 23rd AMR will be conducting a Mass Casualty Incident drill at Stellos Stadium simulating a Stadium Collapse. Student from Nashua South’s EMT program will be participating. Kerran suggested that they could possible use the MCI drill as a Code Red drill. Chris will connect with Justin Kates. Committee Questions/Comments Rich shared that Nashua Fire & Rescue has purchased 4 new defibrillators and 4 more have been ordered. Kerran Vigroux requested a motion to adjourn. Rich Conway moved to adjourn the meeting. Mark Hastings seconded the motion to adjourn All in favor: Aye Meeting ended at 9:50 a.m. The next AAC Meeting will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 9:00 a.m., at the City of Nashua, Public Health and Community Services building, located at 18 Mulberry Street, Nashua.
