Division of Public Health & Community Services Division of Public Health & Community Services BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING February 8, 2017 12:30 PM MINUTES Attendance: Dr. Storace, Dr. Cappetta, Bobbie Bagley, Jackie Aguilar, Bob Mack, Heidi Peek Christina De Los Santos, Patty Crooker, Rene Beaudoin, Courtney Ellison, Jessica Gorhan, Jamie Terra Call to Order – Dr. Storace Motion to approve minutes from January 11, 2017 – Dr. Storace, seconded by Dr. Cappetta. Motion carried. Director’s Update –  Jessica Gorhan is the new Program Assistant. She comes with an extensive background with knowledge of nursing, PH advocacy, working with HEAL NH and owns a health and wellness business for the past 11 years.  Bobbie attended the Health and Equity Partnership meeting. She was appointed Co- chair of Workforce Diversity Work Group.  Community Health Department is still in need of F/T Public Health Nurse. Two inquires received regarding the position.  Internships: working on formalizing the process for interns. 3 requests have come in for internship placements from Rivier and NCC.  MOTF continues to be a bi-weekly meeting.  Still waiting on Van lease agreement. The lease language is being worked out with lawyers.  Department Reports Community Services -  Reviewed report.  PHAC Executive Committee met in January 2017. Making strides having good communication with PARTNER’s network. Potential data collection opportunities with specific groups to know what they do to maintain healthy during extreme heat weather.  Subcommittee for CHA is making good progress. Working on target for CASPER field assessment.  Substance Misuse: working on getting mental health first aid.  Courtney took care of social media. Updated DPHCS site with Ren to include bed bug page.  Courtney created Teen Violence Awareness Month material for CHD to present at Boys and Girls club in February. 18 Mulberry Street • Nashua, New Hampshire 03060 • Phone (603) 589- 4555 • Fax (603) 594-3643   Successful Homeless Connect Event on 1/25/17.  Working on Public Health Week. Making connections and coming up with ideas.  Did walkthrough at Oasis Farms with Environmental Health. Plan is to do a community share at city hall in the near future. Community Health -  Reviewed report.  CHD created 2nd Annual Conference Planning Committee. 1st meeting held in January. Putting together Save-The- Date, venue, speakers, panel…etc.  Flu presentation at Adult Learning Center on 1/25/17. Presented in 3 languages.  Homeless Connect was a successful event. CHD had Asthma info table and HIV/Hep C testing table.  CHD did Teen Violence Awareness presentation at the Boys and Girls Club. Goal is to do monthly sex education presentations. Will need parent’s consent prior presentations.  16 Outreach events, which include counseling and testing, were done by Al (MLADC) and Luis at Keystone Hall, Groups, Community Council and many other programs in January.  New Program Assistant, Jessica Gorhan, had orientation with Nurse Manager, CHD Director and PH Nurses to have a better understanding of her roles and responsibilities. Environmental Health -  Reviewed report.  Riverwalk caught fire. Water damage was caused in kitchen.  River Casino & Sports Bar and Los Dos AA had suspended licenses.  Food service businesses are to notify EHD when out of electricity or water. Complaints were made about Grant Buffet because they had no water.  Presented Food Service Education at Pigtale.  New license holders include The Arbor Restaurant and The Flight Center.  Ren attended Annual Arboviral Meeting in Concord. New trapping being rolled out for Zika.  Ren and Shannon, PHN conducted site visit at Bridges of Nashua. Norovirus outbreak confirmed. Welfare -  Report reviewed.  Rental costs are slightly up.  Assisted 15 families and 2 individuals.  Shelters remain full.  Homeless Connect Event was a success. 25 organizations participated.  Increase with burial cost requests.
