The meeting was called to order and introduction made. The minutes were approved with 9 yeas, 1 abstention, and no nays. The working group presented their activities which included several culturally proactive programs that could be expanded. They shared that they thought the small scale programs were ways to reach out feature an ethnic group at a time and expand the contact with more groups. Their suggested activities were also a way to expand knowledge of the EAC. Three concerns were expressed by members present: 1. We not limit the groups we contact 2. These activities might be the cart before the horse if we have not reaffirmed the Mission Statement from 15 May 2008 and approved or update the goals from that same document. Others felt that the suggested programs were in keeping with the Purpose Statement contained in Ord. No., 0-97-122, section 12-7. It was agreed to have a June meeting and review/update the goals from the 15 May 2008 document and then formally propose and vote on the suggested activities. 3. What is the Mayor’s vision for this committee? Communication will be made regarding this. The next meeting will be Thursday, 21 June 2012, 3:30 at city hall. A motion to adjourn was made and seconded. The meeting adjourned at 4:30 pm.
