Ethnic Awareness Committee Minutes
Tuesday November 19, 2013 - 3:30 pm
Nashua City hall 2nd floor conference room
Members Present: Tom Lopez (Chair) Tom Woodward, Sharon Dalton, Scott Jacquith, Carlos
Comacho, Jared Barbossa, Andrew Smith. Guests: Janeth Orozco, Zulma Feliciano
Motion made to approve agenda, made by S. Dalton, seconded by Jared B. carried without
objection

Open Item updates- Limited discussion
Embracing Integration symposium- Scott J. reported 124 participants, with a goal of 128. Gate
City initiative will review data collected and evaluate event as an agenda item for next meeting
of Gate City initiative.
Public outreach program. Board decided to move forward with creating an email account and
the shell of a Facebook account. Access to email account and Facebook administration will be
shared between Chair, Vice Chair, and Mayor’s liaison. Chair will create and report at next
meeting.
Youth Leadership Program- meets on December 10th at the boys and girls club at 12:00. Janeth
O. appointed chair of workgroup.
Reports- Limited discussion
Gate City Initiative moving forward, will work to re-establish mission. While it is NEAC’s role to
appoint a mission to the subcommittee, and has done so, GCI can discuss mission and suggest
changes or updates based on evaluation of activities, which will be reported at next meeting.
Roles described were to either make it a project based committee, or an ongoing collaboration
between partner agencies to exchange information and identify best practices and resources.
GCI will identify a new meeting place that is more publicly accessible identify a more
permanent arrangement for chairing committee as it’s current chair is interim, and will set
member expectations for participation once leadership is identified.

January 19th 6:00 at Faith Baptist church there will be a Martin Luther King Day celebration
