Dowd RELATIVE TO THE ACCEPTANCE AND APPROPRIATION OF $419,337 FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY INTO FIRE GRANT ACTIVITY “FY13 ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT” MOTION BY ALDERMAN SHEEHAN TO RECOMMEND FINAL PASSAGE ON THE QUESTION Chairman Wilshire This is for their breathing apparatus. Their equipment is 15 years old and that’s the maximum life time expectancy of that equipment so they got grant money to buy new breathing apparatus. There is a 10% city match which is $46,592 and they plan on using CERF to help with the match. Alderman Sheehan They were going to have to buy this regardless so the fact that someone went and got the grant for it – it’s a really good thing for the city has a lesser impact because there is a match instead of the whole thing. MOTION CARRIED GENERAL DISCUSSION Alderman Sheehan I want to say to Nashua Crossing what a great job they have done with their new memory care living facility. It was a beautiful facility and it was an excellent ceremony to cut the ribbon and I think it really fits a need in Nashua.
