Committee Reports:
Volunteers (COAD/VOAD/Citizen Corps): Justin Kates and Marc Slater from Nashua COAD met
with Dom DiNatale at VolunteerNH to talk about the development of a Citizen Corps Council in
the City of Nashua. Large need for volunteers during the October Snowstorm.
SMART Report: Rick Wood gave report on SMART. Participated with the Civil Support Team in
exercises. No responses. Planning a Hazmat Tech class for January.
Public Information: Looking at developing a Facebook and Twitter account for emergency
management. People during October storm were interested in receiving information on incident
via social media.
Old Business:
Starting work on the Emergency Operations Plan. Will be meeting with each discipline to look a
a standard format for the new Emergency Operations Plan. Will be meeting with many of the
Non-governmental organizations that have responsibilities as part of the plan.
New Business:
October Snowstorm - Storm was an extremely large response. Critical Infrastructure without
power was a major issue during the storm. OEM will be meeting with PSNH to talk about some
of that. No agencies reported any issues or concerns. After Action Meeting will be held soon.
Family Emergency Preparedness Day 2012 - Looking at holding an event during the National
Preparedness Month in September 2012. Would be a fair at a mall or other location with
responder vehicles, booths by non-profits, training, etc. Looking to educate citizens on
emergency preparedness kits and plans to try and resolve some of the rush to food markets and
gas stations after the storm as seen during the October Snowstorm.
State Training and Exercise Workshop - Looking at a few Statewide exercises for 2012. Shelter
exercise will be one of the major exercises to test how many volunteers necessary to open up
shelters. If Nashua responders are interested in exercises, let Justin Kates know so that he can
work with HSEM Training and Exercise
LEPC participants asked for a potential host for next meeting. Next meeting on January 5th
2012.
