3. Chairman's Notes Sean - Sean attended a city Transportation Forum attended by 30+ people including the mayor. Plans for transportation in
the city were discussed. Sean attended as he wanted to be sure where the Broad Street Parkway would dump out
traffic on the Pine Street Extension or Pine Street and the effect it would have at the Millyard entrance to the park.
- Also discussed was a plan to connect the two high schools by a road similar to Spine Road. Both schools are
emergency shelters and an access is needed. Sean had no idea what the exact plan was but he thought he would
connect through Lincoln Park. Nick stated there is a plan to build a bridge over the river just outside the Mine Falls
area. Nick stated this would also be a cost-saving move to have buses travel along this route between the high
schools. Under Homeland Security this could possibly be accomplished without a need for permits. It was noted this
bridge and roadway could create an environmental problem for the park. With oil and gas spillage and emissions.
- Nick to look into the Mine Falls covenant to see what restrictions there are. It was suggested perhaps there could be a
Mine Falls Tunnel.
- Other items noted by Sean are a plan to reduce the width of sidewalks on Main Street and introduce diagonal
parking. Passenger rail service from Nashua to Boston was quashed.
- On Broad Street Parkway Sean stated there is a Plan B whereby vehicles could be routed to Pine Street and then onto
Ledge or Central Streets and avoid congestion at the Millyard.
- A guestbook or register will be set up at the Gatehouse on Trail Days when the Gatehouse is open. Nick to obtain the
book.
- Plastic table, clip boards with attached pens were purchased by Peter and Nick on a "shopping trip" for use at the
registration table on Trail Days
- On the question of new jackets, shirts and hats sporting the "colors" of the committee at Trail Days, Nick reported the
original company in Indiana has gone bankrupt and now he will be able to purchase the items locally at M&N Sports
in Nashua. New members are in need of the items.
- Nick agreed a quarterly report on tower funds could be done and the first report could be done by the first Trail Day
and made quarterly after that.
3 Chairman's Notes (cont.) Sean - Sub Committee programs will be up and running for next meeting. Sean explained his idea is to have a regular
. meeting start and then break up into sub committees for about 10 minutes and then reconvene the regular committee
and have reports done so all are aware of what each committee is doing.
- Sean emphasized the sub committees do not have to physically meet, but that the Trail Day Committee has to swing
into action soon as the first Trail Day is quickly approaching.
- Sean appreciated the excitement at the subcommittee experiment and hopes it works out.
- Sean also offered to help each committee and will work with Dave to get the sponsorship committee of one going.
He will pass on the list of contacts and other items to Dave who is comfortable with his role. Gift certificate
donations are $150 per Trail Day. Examples of sponsors mentioned were Gate City Striders and Home Depot. Others
will be sought by Dave.
- Registration covered again with item of back pack storage and Nick said they can be stored at the locker at the Park-
Rec building in Greeley Park. Peter to drop them off.
- Sean noted he wants to be aware of what all committees are doing as in his role as chairman he needs to be in the
know. Mike Dillon indicated he would like to be on the Gatehouse committee.

4 Old Business All - Joshua suggested the Cove and Maple Island be given special attention as a subcommittee and Sean stated that was
. an excellent suggestion and that the suggestion of Scott to head it up to be outstanding.
- Scott agreed to be the point person on the Maple Island Cove committee with Joshua and Mike stating they would
also like to be on the sub committee
- Mike gave kudos to Sean and Peter for the subcommittee proposition. He felt for too long the chairman and vice
chairman had been burdened by doing all the prep work for most park issues. With this process more people get
involved and feel they are doing something.
- Sean echoed those statements and credited Scott for his work on the Maple Island site and noted that one of the Trail
Day projects will be the removal of posts from the 250 feet of fencing that was taken down on Maple Island to open
the park even more for the public to view the beauty of the Cove area.
.
5 New Business All - None.
6 Adjournment Sean The meeting was adjourned at 7:57 p.m.
