The league utilizes the Soifert Field soccer fields and they were welcomed by chairman Neary. Having a passive relationship with the Mine Falls Park Council in the past Todd and Sean agreed the relationship should be expanded. Nick will serve as a conduit between the two parties. The soccer group has strength in numbers as they have some 2,000 people they can call upon to help clean the park on Trail Days or other events. Sean credited the group with keeping the fields clean. - Ed Moran was greeted by the chairman as an official member of the committee - Nick reported the geyser hole by the bridge on Spine Road near G29 was filled. - Nick thanked Greg for sending photos of damage, etc., in the park with location information as it allows him to send crews directly to the damage site. Asked other committee members if they have information to send him the photos or information. - Nick called the flooding of the Nashua River as causing horrible erosion damage to the trail behind the soccer field (Blue Trail). It would take multiple Trail Days to repair the damage. Trail surface has eroded and a pipe put in some time ago as a culvert has surfaced. Ruts have sprouted on the trail. - Nick said e was considering putting a bridge in the area to replace the trail. -The Andrews Bridge was completely covered with water and Nick was wondering if the trail was worth rebuilding with all the erosion damage. It definitely is the worst part of the park in need of being refurbished. - Serious tree damage throughout the park caused by the wind and rain storm. Crews working to keep a 20 foot buffer on each side of the trails for safety purposes with trees. - Regarding the canal, Nick was looking into having a crew come in to do the work of removing some trees from the canal and others growing into the canal from the banking and causes the banking to erode. The canal clean-up of trees would cost $1,200 for 10 days of work if the company holds its price. -T-Shirts and jackets for committee members were available to be passed out at the end of the meeting. - Steve Paquin the intern working with Nick, showed photos of the news signs for the park and GIS pictometry as to where they would be located at the various entrances. - In answer to San's question, Steve noted the No. rule on the sign is dogs must be leashed. - Nick stated Steve has been working hard on the sign package t o meet the self-imposed deadline of them to be up by August.
