Mine Falls Park Advisory Committee- Jan. 7, 2013 Minutes ATTENDEES: Joshua Segal, Greg Andruskevich, Peter Tesrta, Nick Caggiano, Richard Gillespie, Mark Soucy, Mike Dillon, Ed Moran, Carol Rust, David Silva: Guest: Pam Anderson. TOPIC LEAD DISCUSSION / CONCLUSIONS 1. Call to order Joshua - Meeting called to order by committee chairman Joshua Segal at 7 p.m. at DPW Bldg.. - Elections were held with the following slate: Chairman – Greg Andruskevich; Vice-Chairman – Dave Silva; Secretary – Joshua Segal. At this point, Joshua passed the gavel to Greg. Greg: - Motion to accept the minutes for December noting the addition to the December attendance of Mark Soucy. The minutes were accepted and placed on file as modified. Passed unanimously. 2. Park/Rec Nick - Donation of $300 from the Gate City Striders to the MFP Trust fund was announced. Secretary to send acknowledgement - T-Shirts for 2013 will be yellow with black lettering. - Red Trail reclamation is ongoing - New signs will be finished in the spring - Log removal from the Canal will begin in the spring - Paving contract (including raising the Whipple St. "under water" area) will be contracted in the spring 3. Chairman's notes Greg - Trail Day/Meeting Dates were approved and shown at the bottom of each page of the minutes - Greg asked Mike Dillon to contact his EMS contacts to see if we can enlist their support for a trail day - 2013 walkthrough of the park to assess its condition and to plan the April Trail Day was scheduled for Sat., Mar. 30 at 9AM. Place TBD. 2013 "to do list" - Make the park a "drug free" zone - Completion of the Red Trail reclamation: Dick Gillespie in charge - Removal of certain defunct signs at the Millyard Entrance - Landscape the areas around the new signs - Possibility of doing tours of the more obscure areas of the park 4. Old Business All. - Concerns were raised about others raiding the the MFP Trust Fund - Concerns were raised about keeping certain parking lots plowed in the winter, especially in light of the recent fire in Lincoln Park. Plowing is done by the street dept. 603 589-4750 - Discussion about replacing the Polaris was raised and deferred to next meeting 5. New business All - Possibility of adding kayak access points along the Canal: Carol Rust. Deferred to next meeting - Peter Testa to update addresses and phone numbers.
