Mine Falls Park Advisory Committee- Sept. 9, 2013 Minutes
ATTENDEES: Pam Anderson, Greg Andruskevich, Dick Gillespie, Ed Moran, Joshua Segal, Sherm Sewall, David Silva, Mark Soucy, Peter Testa, Nick Caggiano
TOPIC LEAD DISCUSSION / CONCLUSIONS
1. Call to order Greg: - Meeting called to order by committee chairman Greg Andruskevich at 7:00 PM at the DPW Bldg.
- Motion to accept the minutes for the June and August 2013 meeting as submitted was passed unanimously.
2. Park/Rec Nick - MFPAC member jacket needs should be available from inventory. He will check.
- "Lining" Lincoln Park parking lot is "on the schedule"
- Mowing is ongoing. Dick G. warned: "Don't mow the knotweed!"
- Issues of "Canal water" use at the High School and Soifert Fields were discussed. Nick will contact Pennichuck for
details.
- The problem of erosion of the green trail near G44 and methods to mitigate it (without paving) were discussed.
- Feedback on the paving done on the Yellow Trail and the Whipple St. entrance was mostly positive.
- Pastore family, formerly of Nashua, would like to donate some money for benches. Nick indicated that MAP could
not accept such a donation, but if the MFPAC deemed it appropriate, it could by done with existent park funds.
- A request to put benches on the overlooks east of the N. 7th St. entrance was discussed and unanimously rejected.
- Inserts to complete the new signs are proceeding at a snail's pace.
3. Chairman's notes Greg - Greg mentioned he received a thank you note from Jim Rust, re the late Carol Rust
- A new kayak launch was discussed. Sherm S. suggested a wooden access ramp that he has seen elsewhere and he
will get us a photo for next month's meeting.
- Kudos to the team leads for the August Trail Day

5. New business All - Trail Day, Sept. 21:
* Registration: [Lead: Peter Testa (just for the beginning), Mark Soucy]
* Gatehouse (Lead: Pam Anderson)
* Orange Trail Steps: (Lead: Dick Gillespie)
* Red Trail Continuation: (Lead: Greg Andruskevich and Ed Moran)
* Mulch the Soifert Monument Area and clean up "The Triangle": (Lead: Dave Silva)
- Trail day leads to get their equipment lists to Dave Silva by Monday, the 16th. Dave in turn will give one collated list
to Nick
- Consider calendar change for 2014: Eliminate Feb. Meeting; Add a July meeting
- Kudos to the summer interns
6. - The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 PM
