Mine Falls Park Advisory Committee- Oct. 7, 2013 Minutes ATTENDEES: Pam Anderson, Greg Andruskevich, Dick Gillespie, Ed Moran, Joshua Segal, Peter Testa, Nick Caggiano TOPIC LEAD DISCUSSION / CONCLUSIONS 1. Call to order Greg: - Meeting called to order by committee chairman Greg Andruskevich at 6:57 PM at the DPW Bldg. - Motion to accept the minutes for the Sept. 9, 2013 meeting as submitted was passed unanimously. 2. Park/Rec Nick - Proposal for RFP for canal clean up was completed by Dick Gillespie and Greg Andruskevich and submitted to Nick. Nick will forward the proposal and funding recommendation to the Mayor. - The problem of irrigation water being taken from the canal for the High School and Soifert Fields has been discussed in previous meetings. Nick is getting a quote from Pennichuck Water Co. to check on an alternative source for water. - Lining of the parking lat at Lincoln Park was completed - Clearing of the banks of the canal is slated to begin next week - On October 16, Stacey Gingras will lead a group of volunteers from Nashua High North to clean the Cheyenne Road side of the park. We were assured there would be adequate chaperones especially in the steeper areas near the falls. - Nick is losing most of his park staff to “soft waste removal” now that the summer is over. - The final inserts for the sign project is nearing completion. Nick showed the proofs. 3. Chairman's notes Greg - A discussion of the last trail day ensued. Some was good; some was bad. Due to a miscommunication, Dick Gillespie’s group did not get some items they needed. There were also glitches at the registration table that made for a sloppy start. Never-the-less, all seemed to agree that a lot of good work was accomplished. - The status of the Red Trail repairs that were beyond the scope of a trail had been on hold pending the city’s hiring of a new surveyor. That has now been accomplished. We know that the Red Trail job is somewhere in his inbox. Nick will check on the status. - The Canoe/Kayak ramp was discussed. Sherm Sewell had provided us with a photo of such a ramp on the Souhegan. Nick Caggiano and Greg Andruskevich will plan to take a field trip to look at it close up and determine if it is practical for our situation. 4.
