Common Council Agenda The Common Council will meet at the City of Nekoosa Office Location & Address: Council Chambers, 951 Market St. Nekoosa, WI 54457 Time: Tuesday, July 14th, 2026, at 7:00 P.M. This meeting can be streamed via Zoom, see the link attached: Click Here The agenda is as follows: 1. Call to Order 2. Roll Call 3. Citizen Comment During the Citizens Comment period of the agenda, the council welcomes comments from any city resident on any item not on the agenda. Please know that pursuant to State law the council members cannot engage in conversation with you but may ask questions. The council may refer the item to staff, a standing committee, or a future meeting for discussion and possible action. Each person wishing to speak will have up to 10 minutes to speak, unless more time is granted by the council. If you wish to speak, we ask that you submit a card to the secretary or clerk providing your name, address, and topic for discussion. The council will also take comments from the public on agenda items as called for by the Mayor. Please note that once the City of Nekoosa Common Council begins discussion on an agenda item no further comment will be allowed from the public on that issue. 4. Approval of Previous Common Council Minutes – June 9th, 2026 5. Treasurer Report 6. Committee Reports a. Personnel i. Recommend switching to Teamsters Union/Teamcare Health Insurance Plan ii. Discussion on posting the Public Work Director position. Rick will bring a posting to the Council Meeting for discussion and a vote under “New Business.” iii. Discussed an update by the Fire Chief on the new fire truck. b. Public Works i. Recommend amending the previously assessed wastewater charges to the owner of the Moccasin Mobile Home Park. The owner is still willing to pay and is liable for the water that was utilized during that 2-month time frame. The refund will be issued for the sum of $11,790.00. That number was derived based on taking a one-year wastewater usage average and subtracted that number from the in question 2-month total that occurred during their water leak. ii. Discussed Fairview Lane project updates and plans. iii. Discussed possible housing development with Ruesch Companies. It is possible that the members of and possibly a quorum of members of other governmental bodies of the municipality may be in attendance at the above-stated meeting to gather information; no action will be taken by any governmental body at the above-stated meeting other than the City Common Council. iv. Recommend approving a stiff-armed style fishing pier on the Wisconsin River. Please note that this project is being funded by the gracious grant that has been awarded to the City by the Wisconsin DNR, Legacy Foundation, and Wood County CEED Committee. v. Recommend sending Derek Freeman to the annual Wastewater Convention in Green Bay, WI from October 13th – 16th at a cost of $210.00 per handbook. vi. Recommend sending 4 Public Works employees to Plover, WI for the annual Wastewater Expo at a cost of $110.00 payable per employee per handbook. c. Property Recreation & Human Affairs i. Recommend Alliant Energy for replacing and upgrading the light pole at Freeman Boat Landing. ii. Recommend adding a baby changing station to the bathrooms at the Cahak Pavillion for approximately $500.00. d. Ways & Means i. Audit Bill List. ii. License applications. iii. Discuss modifying ordinance 12.02 “Intoxicating Liquor and Fermented Malt Beverages” to include additional conditions for Beverage Operator License applicants. iv. Donations / Seminars / Conferences / Equipment / Meetings 7. Old Business 8. New Business a. Discussion and possible action on the Public Works Director job posting/hiring. b. Police Chief Monthly Report c. Public Works Director Monthly Report d. Fire Department Monthly Report e. Community Center Monthly Report f. Airport Commission Monthly Report g. Charles & JoAnn Lester Library Monthly Report h. GEC Building Inspector Report 9. Approval of Bills 10. Adjourn a.
