NOTICE - The next regular meeting of the Common Council will be held on Wednesday evening, May
14, 2025, at 7:00 PM in Council Chambers, City Hall, 2nd Floor, 27 West Main Street, New
Britain, Connecticut. In-person and remote public participation will begin prior to the regular
meeting at 7:00 pm. Individuals seeking to join public participation remotely may join the queue

PETITIONS
1. Transparency and clarity in public and quasi-public roles are essential for the trust and
understanding of the community. Mr. Hunter Mathena has been identified as the appointed
President of the Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce and questions have arisen
concerning Mr. Mathena’s responsibilities, employment structure, and work schedule as
it pertains to both the Chamber of Commerce and any role he may hold within the City of
New Britain.
Alderman Francisco Santiago requests the following information regarding Mr. Hunter
Mathena:
1. What is Mr. Mathena’s official title and scope of responsibilities as President of the
Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce?
2. Does Mr. Mathena currently hold a position, contractual or otherwise, with the City of
New Britain? If so, please provide his title, job description, and reporting structure.
3. What are Mr. Mathena’s standard working hours at the Chamber of Commerce?
4. What are Mr. Mathena’s standard working hours with the City of New Britain?
5. Is Mr. Mathena’s compensation funded by the Chamber, the City, or both? Please
provide details regarding any agreements or funding arrangements.
This petition is made in the interest of clarity and accountability, and to ensure the efficient
use of public and community resources.
