Purpose of the meeting
Chairman LoVerde called this meeting due to the recent articles in the newspapers
referring to the ongoing pending investigation. He also stated that Attorney Annunzio
will bring us up to date as to the recent event surrounding the former Mayor. Attorney
Annunzio went on to explain that this investigation stems from the sentencing
document provided by Mike Siegel, which was submitted by the federal government.
A determination was made, by Attorney Annunzio, to investigate the alleged findings
in this document. According to Attorney Annunzio the investigation is currently
pending. This matter will be handled by Attorneys Annunzio and Siegel to find a
solution to the questions brought up in the document. Chairman LoVerde questioned
whether this document is a public record. Attorney Annunzio confirmed that this
document is a public document. Chairman LoVerde questioned how this investigation
will proceed. Attorney Annunzio stated that the investigation is currently looking at
the process rather than individual employees. Mr. Fries questioned whether this
investigation was being conducted under the Board of Ethics or Village government.
Attorney Annunzio affirmed that this is under the Board of Ethics and is like any
other complaint filed through the hotline. Trustee Preston questioned who would
handle this if the Board of Ethics was not in place. Attorney Annunzio stated that this
would be handled through him with the assistance of Mike Sigel. Chairman LoVerde
wanted to make sure that what the trustees read in the papers; that they are informed
of what is taking place.
Chairman LoVerde would like to thank the Police department and Attorney Annunzio
for the recent investigation that took place regarding Officer Christie. He also stated
