COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES January 10, 2013 Present: Steven Gorski - Chair Absent: Trustee Jim Hynes – Ex Officio Mary Marusek Bob Thomas Cathy Spadoni - Secretary Commissioner Gorski called the meeting to order at 4:07 p.m. I. Approval of Minutes Commissioner Marusek made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Gorski, to approve the minutes of the November 8, 2012 meeting. The motion carried. II. Reported Citizen Comments / Complaints a) Police Department Commissioner Gorski reported that the Police Department has not received any complaints. b) Other Village of Niles Departments Commissioner Spadoni reported that no complaints were received from other departments. c) Telephone Hotline Commissioner Spadoni reported that no complaints were received via the phone hotline. d) Email Hotline Commissioner Spadoni reported that no complaints were received via the email hotline. e) Other The commissioners reported that no complaints were received.  Community Relations Commission January 10, 2013 III. Report from the Commissioners Discussion of Community Relations Commission Flyer/Brochure Commissioner Gorski stated that before we move ahead with the design the CRC brochure, he would like to know how much it will cost. He has been in contact with Viki Rivkin of Open Communities and is waiting for a response as to an approximate production cost. Once he has that figure, he will ask the Village administration for preliminary approval. Then we can move ahead to the design stage. Open Meetings Act Training Commissioners Gorski, Marusek, Hynes and Spadoni have all completed the Open Meetings Act training and have submitted their Certificates of Completion to the Village Clerk. We will follow-up with Commissioner Thomas at the next meeting. It was noted that he can use a Village of Niles computer to complete the training. IV. New Business Open Communities Membership Fee Commissioner Spadoni reported that Open Communities has raised their annual membership fee from $50 to $100. Membership will be renewed in May 2013. V. Next Meeting The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. VI. Adjournment There being no official complaints or further business to come before the Community Relations Commission, Commissioner Gorski made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Marusek, to adjourn the meeting.
