It was suggested that an article be prepared about the Community Relations Commission and set to the press for publication. Commissioner Lee discussed a meeting that she attended an event sponsored by the NWMC; the meeting was open to all Community Relations Commissions. The NWMC would like to put together a symposium of Community Relations Commissions that would be part of their program to discuss best practices. It was noted that Niles is not alone in not receiving complaints on fair housing. The NWMC would like to include the Mayors and Boards of the communities as well. Commissioner Lee gave out dates of future events. Commissioner Lee distributed a flier that she prepared for the Community Relations Commission. The Commission discussed photo IDs for the group with the Village logo. The photo IDs and level of security will need to be approved by the Village Manager. If approved, the members must then go to the IT department for the photos to be taken for the ID cards. The Commission must be careful when using the ID cards; the ID cards should be used when conducting official Community Relations business. The Commission then discussed future events that they may participate in, such as the Wellness Fair, if scheduled, in October. V. Open Discussion and Public Comment The topic of homelessness came up for discussion. This problem is becoming more prevalent. Homelessness would be a good topic to bring up for discussion at the NWMC symposium.
