Minutes Village of Niles Finance Committee Meeting Remote Participation, Zoom June 30, 2020 10:00 a.m. Call To Order Chairman George Alpogianis called the meeting to order at 10:02am. Roll Call Assistant Finance Director Laurie Nannini called the roll for Committee members: Committee Members Present: Chairman George D. Alpogianis, George Van Geem, Alan Weel Committee Members Absent: Jack Drexler, Joseph Ori Village Staff Present: Interim Finance Director Ed McKee, Assistant Finance Director Laurie Nannini, Village Manager Steve Vinezeano, Assistant to the Village Manager Kathy Thake, Deputy Village Manager Hadley Skeffington-Vos, Director of Economic Development John Melaniphy, Interim Deputy Finance Director Charles Howard, Budget Analyst Conor Schultz, Administrative Assistant Joy Athanasiou Old Business None Approval of Minutes The regular minutes from the March 4, 2020 Finance Committee meeting were presented for approval. A motion was made and all concurred. Accounts Payable Approval The Accounts Payable registers for 2020- 2/14, 2/21, 2/28, 3/6, 3/13, 3/20, 3/27, 4/3, 4/10, 4/17, 4/24, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 5/29, 6/5, 6/12, 6/19 were presented for approval. A motion was made and all concurred. New Business Review Small Business Loan Program John Melaniphy presented a Small Business Loan Program to help restaurants affected by COVID-19. This program would allow the Village to partner with vulnerable small businesses in the restaurant industry and offer a no interest loan for one year. Each business would have to meet eligibility requirements to qualify for the loan. The Committee members present directed the Staff to formalize the plan details and bring this issue back to the Committee for a special meeting prior to presenting to the Board of Trustees. Chairman Alpogianis requested this be presented to the Board of Trustees at the Village Board meeting in July. George Van Geem made a motion to concur with staff findings to create an assistance program to help local restaurant organizations. Seconded by Alan Weel. On roll call, all concurred.
