Village of Niles General Government / IT Committee Meeting Summary December 8, 2016 The following Voting Persons were in attendance: Chair George D. Alpogianis, Village Manager Steven Vinezeano and Cammy Fortuna. IT Director Bill Shaw was absent. Staff present were: Hadley Skeffington-Vos, Marlene Victorine, Kathy Thake, Danielle Grcic, Steve Cusick, Cathy Spadoni, Kathy Barnat, Katy Darr, and Mitch Johnson. No Members of the press or public were present. I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 8:49 a.m. in Room 218 at the Niles Administration Building. II. Approve Meeting Summary – General Government/IT Committee – November 9, 2016 - Unanimous Approval III. Old Business a. Revision to Employee Handbook, Section 1.11 Residency Requirements Tabled. IV. New Business No new business was discussed V. IT Project Updates The IT Department is working on a new Community Development software project; this will be presented to the Board for approval at the January 2017 meeting. IT is working with the Fire Department to update plans and technology in the EOC and emergency call center. The IT department is in the process of preparing their budget. HR/Payroll software is still being further reviewed. Five vendors are being looked at at this time for the new HR/Payroll software. Proofpoint will be the new email filtering system, Intel no longer supports McAffee service. Virtual desktops and zero client boxes are part of a pilot project that is being used at Health and Wellness and are now being set up in Community Development. This will help to reduce hardware costs and overall power consumption. Windows 10 and Office 2016 are now in the works and being tested. Resident complaint software is being reviewed and is in the budget. VI. Open Discussion / Public Comment None VII. Next Meeting – Tentatively scheduled for January 11, 2017 at 8:45 a.m. VIII.
