VILLAGE OF NILES HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING SUMMARY January 25, 2018 Village Hall, 1000 Civic Center Drive Room 212 Members Present: Trustee John C. Jekot, Chair Tony Hollenback, Family Services Director Carl Maniscalco, Fitness Center Director Kelly Mickle, Senior Center Director Mark Williams, Teen Center Director Members Absent: None CALL TO ORDER Chairman Jekot called the Human Services Committee meeting to order at 1:07 p.m. NEW BUSINESS 1) Update of Department FY2017 Goals • Tony Hollenback reported on Family Services activities including implementation of Foothold Technology, Kaero, the new billing system and the water bill program. • Carl Maniscalco reported on Fitness Center activities including the Cycling Classic on July 20. The event had 438 registered cyclists, plans for 2018 may include a food festival • Kelly Mickle reported on Senior Center activities including the Community Block Party, Medicare D open enrollment, Helping Hands Community Resource Event, and Thanksgiving Day Luncheon. • Mark Williams reported on Teen Center activities including the Back to School Dance on September 9th, cancellation of the Lights ON Afterschool event and tile art project this year, and renewal of the Teen Center lease with Golf Mill. 2) Departmental Quarterly Performance Measures • Family Services Department measures include increases in billable counseling revenue, crisis contacts and food pantry visits. • Fitness Center measures include increased memberships, revenues, membership usage and membership retention. • Senior Center measures include membership and number of grant applications. • Teen Center measures include membership and average daily attendance. 3) 2018 Budget Updates OTHER BUSINESS No other Business PUBLIC COMMENTS None NEXT MEETING DATE January 25, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Village Hall ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Human Services Committee, the meeting adjourned at 2:12 p.m.
