MILWAUKEE AVENUE CORRIDOR COMMITTEE JUNE 30, 2015 MEETING SUMMARY CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Co-Chair McCreery at 8:33 a.m. ATTENDANCE The following Committee members were in attendance:  Denise McCreery, Village Trustee  Danette Matyas, Village Trustee  Ross Klicker, Economic Development Coordinator  Moses Nazzal, Superintendent of Engineering  Bob Pilat, Admin. Asst. to Director of Public Services  Bruce Sylvester, Senior Planner Others in attendance were:  Mary Anderson, Director of Public Services  Tom Powers, Civil Engineer II  Steve Vinezeano, Village Manager APPROVAL OF MEETING SUMMARY A motion was made by R. Klicker, seconded by D. Matyas, to approve the April 30, 2015 meeting summary notes as presented. The motion passed unanimously. ITEP IV – CONSTRUCTION MEETING UPDATE Since both projects were being completed simultaneously and are related, an update for the Milwaukee Avenue resurfacing improvement and ITEP IV streetscape improvement were provided. Milwaukee Avenue Resurfacing Update The project is moving along well. The entire roadway was milled as of last week. Full depth pavement patching south of Dempster started last week and crews should have the level binder down from Dempster to Oakton by the end of the week, weather permitting of course. They will continue making the full depth pavement patching south of Oakton and within three weeks all of Milwaukee should have at least level binder down. The contractor Page 1 of 3 will be placing the final lift on the area north of Dempster and should be completed by around July 10th. Again it is all weather dependent. The project is still on schedule for a mid-August completion of all items. Streetscape Update Originally the contractor planned to work on one side at a time, however IDOT requested the curb work be in place by last Monday so the asphalt grinding on Milwaukee could occur, therefore work is occurring on both sides. We have installed the sidewalk and curb for the planting/brick areas on the east side, except for the front of Booby’s. We will be installing the west side from oriole north today. The street light by Booby’s will be relocated today. The irrigation system is currently being installed. MILWAUKEE AVENUE STREETLIGHT PROJECT There was general discussion regarding the selection of streetlights for Milwaukee Avenue. A number of poles, bases, arms, fixtures and decorative options were presented to the committee for their review. There was discussion on whether or not the pedestrian poles would be changed to match the new streetlight poles. That would be an option but not decided until later. There was also general discussion about pole on private property, such as Amici. The committee agreed continuity with the Village fixtures is important and felt perhaps this could be addressed with zoning.
