APPROVED MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PLAN COMMISSION AND ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS VILLAGE OF NILES COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS April 7, 2014 The Niles Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals were called to order at 7:01 P.M. Chairman Kanelos asked everyone to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. Present along with Chairman Thomas Kanelos and Village Attorney Joseph Annunzio were Commissioners Thomas Surace, Angelo Troiani, Barbara Nakanishi and Robert Schulte. Also present was Bruce Sylvester, Senior Planner. Vice-Chairman Karen Dimond and Commissioner Morgan Dubiel were excused. Chairman Kanelos asked if there were any additions, clarifications or corrections to the minutes of March 3, 2014. There were none. Commissioner Troiani moved to approve the minutes of March 3, 2014. Seconded by Commissioner Surace, on roll call the vote was: AYES: 5 Surace, Troiani, Nakanishi, Schulter, Kanelos NAYS: 0 EXCUSED: 2 Dimond, Dubiel There being five (5) affirmative votes the motion carried. Chairman Kanelos then asked if there were any additions, clarifications or corrections to the minutes of the March 10, 2014 joint meeting of the Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals and the Building and Zoning Committee. There were none. Commissioner Troiani moved to approve the minutes of March 10, 2014. Seconded by Commissioner Surace, on roll call the vote was: AYES: 5 Surace, Troiani, Nakanishi, Schulter, Kanelos NAYS: 0 EXCUSED: 2 Dimond, Dubiel There being five (5) affirmative votes the motion carried. NEW BUSINESS 14-ZP-13 Requesting approval to Appendix B Section VIII (B)(3)(kk) to allow the Harlem Milwaukee Currency Exchange to relocate from 7519 to 7505 Milwaukee Avenue. The business will remain within the Niles Shopping Plaza. Bruce Sylvester, Senior Planner, presented the case. He stated the petitioner wanted to relocate within the same shopping center of which he is currently a tenant. He said Staff recommended approval of this move. The petitioners were in the audience. Chairman Kanelos asked if there were questions for Mr. Sylvester from the Commissioners. There were none. There were no questions from the public. At that time he called the petitioner to the podium. David Barr, manager/owner, 7519 N. Milwaukee Ave., Niles, IL was sworn in. He was the spokesperson for the group. He said they merely wanted to relocate within the same shopping center. Chairman Kanelos asked if there were any questions for the petitioner from the Commissioners. There were none. There were no questions from the public. He then entertained a motion. Commissioner Troiani moved to approve item 14-ZP-13 requesting approval to Appendix B Section VIII (B)(3)(kk) to allow the Harlem Milwaukee Currency Exchange to relocate from 7519 to 7505 Milwaukee Avenue with the proper finding of fact. Seconded by Commissioner Schulter, on roll call the vote was: AYES: 5 Surace, Troiani, Nakanishi, Schulter, Kanelos NAYS: 0 EXCUSED: 2 Dimond, Dubiel There being five (5) affirmative votes the motion carried. Chairman Kanelos then entertained a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Surace moved to adjourn. Seconded by Commissioner Nakanishi, on roll call the vote was: AYES: 5 Surace, Troiani, Nakanishi, Schulter, Kanelos NAYS: 0 EXCUSED: 2 Dimond, Dubiel There being five (5) affirmative votes the motion carried.
