PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING SUMMARY Monday June 1, 2015 Fire Station 2 – Room # 117, 8360 W. Dempster St Members Present: Dean Strzelecki - Chair, Police Chief Dennis Mc Enerney, Fire Chief Steve Borkowski. Members Absent: Anthony Fidanza Meeting began at 9:06 A.M. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Chairman Strzelecki asked for a motion to approve December 9, 2014 meeting minutes. Chief Mc Enerney asked for amendment as minutes were incorrect listing Trustee Strzelecki as police chief in attendance. Minutes should indicate that police chief in attendance was Dennis Mc Enerney. Motion made by Chief Mc Enerney to accept meeting minutes as amended. Second by Chief Borkowski. Minutes accepted unanimously. NEW BUSINESS 1. Glenview-Intergovernmental Agreement re fiber connection Bill Shaw, IT director, discussed IT’s plans for improving the communication, internet connection, between the Glenview Police Dispatch and the Niles Police Department. After some discussion, he recommended using the Comcast proposal of using fiber optics to upgrade this service. This proposal would save the village approximately $7,000 per year and would improve the reliability of the service. Motion made by Chief Mc Enerney to recommend Comcast proposal to village board. Second by Chief Borkowski. Recommendation passed unanimously. 2. Village of Glenview- Village of Niles 911 Ethernet intergovernmental agreement. Bill Shaw, IT director, looking for committee’s recommendation to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the Village of Glenview that pertains to item #1, the connectivity between Glenview Dispatch and the Niles Police Department. This agreement dictates the parties’ responsibilities including cost for the service. Trustee Strzelecki asked if Legal had reviewed agreement. Bill Shaw stated that Legal had reviewed and approved. Motion made by Chief Mc Enerney to recommend to board for approval of intergovernmental agreement between the Village of Glenview and the Village of Niles for 911 Ethernet. Second by Chief Borkowski. Recommendation passed unanimously. Other Business None Public Comments None Executive Session None Next Meeting Date Monday, October 12, 2015 Adjournment Meeting adjourned at 9:28 A.M..
