Mayor Emrich read statement regarding rules of decorum. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Paul DeMello. 1. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Mayor Emrich requested a motion. A motion was made by Vice Mayor Langdon, seconded by Commissioner Stokes, to approve the agenda as presented. The motion carried on the following vote: Yes: 5- Mayor Emrich, Commissioner Duval, Commissioner Petrow, Vice Mayor Langdon and Commissioner Stokes 2. B. 26-0638 Recognize Commissioner Stokes for Service as Mayor From November 2024 Through November 2025. Commission presented the Recognition. C. 26-0569 Presentation of a Proclamation Proclaiming May 2026, as ALS Awareness Month, to be Presented to Robin Lockwood. Commission presented the Proclamation. D. 26-0672 Presentation of a Proclamation Proclaiming May 11, 2026, as National Salvation Army Day, to be Presented to Kelley Granahan on Behalf of the Sarasota County Salvation Army. Commission presented the Proclamation. E. 26-0460 Presentation of a Proclamation Proclaiming May 2026 as Building Safety Month, to be Presented to City of North Port Building Division. Commission presented the Proclamation. F. 26-0498 Presentation of a Proclamation Proclaiming May 3rd Through May 9th, 2026, as Hurricane Preparedness Week, to be Presented to the City of North Port Emergency Management Division. Commission presented the Proclamation. G. 26-0526 Presentation of a Proclamation Proclaiming May 10th Through May 16th, 2026, as National Police Week and May 15th, 2026, as National Peace Officers Memorial Day, to be Presented to the City of North Port Police Department. This item was not presented. J. 26-0563 Presentation of a Proclamation Proclaiming May 7, 2026, as Michael Golen Day, to be Presented to Michael Golen of the City of North Port City Attorney’s Office. For almost every agenda item, the City staff has prepared materials for Commission consideration and provided a staff recommendation.
