OF THE NORTHBROOK ARTS COMMISSION
VILLAGE OF NORTHBROOK
JULY 5, 2012
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Julia Miller at 7:15 p.m. at the Northbrook Village Hall in
the Terrace Room.

Robbins, Bonnie Siegel and Liaison Kendal Maltas.
Commissioners Excused: Elsa Fischer, Linda Goldman, Christopher Laughlin, Cathi Winnie and Sherry
Weiss.
Commissioners Absent: Terry Luc.
Guests in attendance: Sharon Moyer.
MINUTES:
Chairman Julia Miller asked for a motion to approve the minutes from the June 7, 2012 meeting.
Commissioner Siegel called for the motion and Commissioner Block seconded. All are in favor with no
corrections.
HERE FROM THE AUDIENCE:
No Audience in attendance.
ART IN THE PARK:
Chairman Miller reported there are 72 Artists signed up and paid . The only outstanding issue is to
find judges. Chairman Miller has sent two names to Erin Malloy to contact if needed for judges.
We have ten junior artists participating this year and their booths will be located in the same location
as last year. This year they will be under large multi colored umbrellas instead of a tent and they
will only be there on Saturday. If rain occurs on Saturday, Sunday will be offered to them. If the
weather is very hot on Saturday, the junior artists can close down early.
Chairman Miller will get two additional umbrellas for the YMCA project as well.
Advertising – Promotion and advertising are the Trib local insert, banners from the Northbrook
Nine, and marques, starting tomorrow throughout town. The Village will also have a link on their
website to direct them to the Arts Commission website for information. This event is also listed on
the Patch in six different areas. The Northbrook Tower also interviewed Chairman Miller.
Volunteers - Four Community Services persons will be working the event as well as the Boy
Scouts. Commissioner Fallows will work with the Boy Scout Leader to explain what has to be done
so they can oversee the Boy Scout group. They are scheduled to greet the artists and occupy them to
their booths on Friday evening. We are recruiting a lot of volunteers this year as well. Clare
DeNanno will recruit for her project so our volunteers will be ours. The runners this year will
deliver the artwork from the Artist to the Silent Auction booth. The volunteer list should be
complete by Monday.
Numbers will be on the tents this year for ease of organization. The information booth this year will
have all the information regarding the event as well as a list of all Artists participating. We will try
to create maps with a listing or layout of the event if time allows and this will be available at the
information booth.
Music – All the musical entertainment is set for this year. The bands will be facing a different
direction this year and a sound screen has been rented to minimize the level for the artist tents set
closest to the band area. The Trib Local has advertised and listed all the entertainment.
Food – We are all set with the food vendors. Water will be available at the information booth, in the
tile room and Sunset will be selling water as well.
Other Details – Sunset and the information booth will have cash bags. Name tags will be made by
Chairman Miller and Liaison Maltas for all volunteers and commissioners. Shirts will be made and
given to all commissioners and volunteers for easy recognition for the public. Any outstanding
items should be submitted to Liaison Maltas by Friday.
WORKSHOPS:
This year’s workshops were a success and next year this event will be partnered with the Pastel Society
again.
YMCA – MUSIC COMMITTEE:
Update will be given at the next meeting.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
