MINUTES:
Approval of minutes has been deferred until the October meeting.
HERE FROM THE AUDIENCE:
Mr. Al Alverez is attending the meeting to see what the meetings and commission are all about.
All Commissioners introduced themselves and discussed the events the commission is involved in and the purpose of
the commission.
ART IN THE PARK
Chairman Miller asked the commissioners what they thought worked and what didn’t work for the 2015 event.
The Food Court location must be discussed and made easier to find.
Recruiting food vendors is a challenge.
Mr. Al Alverez suggested using Renaissance characters throughout the park to assist patrons in finding
different sections.
Signage was discussed and how it can get better.
Commissioners thought the event went well and people enjoyed it. They also stated they had good volunteers and were
very happy with the work done.
The commission thanked Commissioner Block for being the official photographer for the event.
NEW IDEA
Chairman Miller and Commissioner Laughlin discussed doing a music event this fall. The scope is still under
discussion as to if it will be a single performing ensemble or multiple performing ensembles. The thought is to have a
one day event with multiple performing ensembles and possibly incorporating dance as well. This would be using
music of different ethnicities, groups representing other nationalities such as Latin/Spanish, Irish music with Irish
dance, Indian music with Indian dance, etc. Calls are being made to find a venue for this event.
The commission will be splitting up responsibilities because there won’t be much time to put this event together. This
will discussed and voted on at a future meeting.
Next month we will have the full accounting from Art in the Park.
