OF THE NORTHBROOK ARTS COMMISSION
VILLAGE OF NORTHBROOK
September 3, 2015
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Julia Miller at 7:03 p.m. at the Northbrook Village Hall in the
Terrace Room.
Commissioners present: Chairman Julia Miller, Commissioners Jerry Block, Steve Gianni, Christopher
Laughlin, Sharon Moyer, Cherie Natenberg, Marilyn Jamora, Frank Lamberti, and Liaison Emma Perley.
Commissioners excused: Sheila Day
Guests: Al Alvarez and Deborah Rohde
MINUTES:
Chairman Miller announced that approval of the minutes for the March 6, 2014 meeting would be
postponed until the October 8, 2015 meeting.
HEAR FROM THE AUDIENCE:
None
GUEST DEBORAH ROHDE – POETRY EVENT
Deborah is a poet, and in collaboration with the Arts Commission, would like to coordinate a juried
reading/poetry contest. There would be both adult and children categories. This is in the preliminary stages
of planning, but April is the target event date, as it is National Poetry Month. The commissioners were in
support of the idea and agreed to move forward with the planning process.
2015 ART IN THE PARK FINANCIAL REPORT-JULIA MILLER
Julia presented the financial report from the 2015 Art in the Park event and explained the budget vs. actual
dollars spent. The 2015 event broke even.
CASH POSITION REPORT FOR 2015-2016 FISCAL YEAR
Julia presented the cash flow report for the 2015-16 fiscal year. She explained there are no outstanding debts
at this time. She suggested the commission review the numbers more in-depth at the October meeting.
PROPOSED MUSIC EVENT-CHRIS LAUGHLIN AND JULIA MILLER
Commissioner Laughlin discussed having a possible event that incorporated both music and dance. The
planning of the event is on hold until a venue can be agreed upon.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Commissioner Gianni announced the Library’s silent series is next Wednesday at 1pm and 7:30pm. The
showing is of Sherlock Holmes, a re-discovered film which is being shown worldwide.
ADJOURN
Commissioner Moyer made a motion to adjourn the meeting, and Commissioner Block seconded. Upon a
unanimous voice vote the meeting was adjourned at 8:00p.m.
