2016 ART IN THE PARK update:
Chairman Laughlin discussed how he asked for a volunteer at the last meeting for the Young Artist Booth for this
year’s event. Bruce Bondy has offered to take the lead on the Young Artist Booth. We have scattered inquiries from
Young Artist’s so Chairman Laughlin has put together the application on the Arts Commission website and you can
submit a photo of your work.
The Young Artist Booth will be closer to the Food Vendor area so hopefully people will have an easier time finding this
area. The Commissioners discussed how to advertise for Young Artists from Northbrook.
Debbie Netter from DW Events is taking care of the Food Vendor and the Children’s Activity.

REVIEW OF INCOME/EXPENDITURES
The commissioners discussed a list of events and costs associated with them. The commission discussed events that
worked and possible new ideas for future events or sponsorships. They also discussed upcoming grant proposals.
Chairman Laughlin would like the commissioners to think about what type of events they want to have, how to grant
monies for other projects and the impact it will have on the community. The funds have to be spread out or the
commission needs to co-sponsor events. The commission needs to raise more money for the events they are sponsoring
now and for future projects.
The commission discussed the Spring Workshops and the possibility of Fall Workshops as well. The Spring workshops
have made money for the Friends of the Arts in the past.
Chairman Laughlin asked the commission to think about changing the grants to an Annual request or Semi-Annual
request to the commission instead of anytime during the year.
Chairman Laughlin asked the commission to solicit ideas for projects from others for future events.
Commissioner Schwartz volunteered to design for a card to introduce the Arts Commission to resident and ask for
donations for the Friends of the Arts. The design will be presented to the commission at a future meeting and then
viewed by the Village Attorneys for approval.
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS: Commissioners Block, Day and Moyer will be discussing ideas with the Northbrook Public Library
for future events to promote more visual art.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Rock the Green is tomorrow night at Village Green. Cherie Natenberg has decided not to
renew her commission appointment any longer. The commissioners thank Cherie for her time on the commission and
wish her well.
