MINUTES:

in favor.
HERE FROM THE AUDIENCE: Janet Cordovi announced her husband has volunteered to make boxes (but needs to
be paid for the materials) for the Art Sculptures to display at the Library. The Commission will discuss this with the
Library but will not be until next year. The Commission thanks Mr. Cordovi for his thoughtfulness. Commissioner
Gianni asked for a sample or a drawing for him to take to the Library to get their thoughts on it. This will be discussed
further at a later date.
2016 ART IN THE PARK update:
Chairman Laughlin asked all commissioners to comment on their thoughts of this year’s event and what can be changed
for next year.
Attendance cannot be quantified as the Park is open. However, Saturday was well attended and with the storm
on Sunday it started out slow and picked up as the weather got better. Artists commented they sold more on Sunday
than Saturday.
The Northbrook Park District would like to be included in the contract negotiations next year per the Board of
Trustees for the Park District. Set up and clean- up of the event needs to be included in the contract or the commission
needs to get more volunteers. Coordination of tasks was discussed and how the responsibilities should be shared.
The Commission discussed the coordinator and the event and sponsors. Also vendors were discussed.
The selection of Artists and form of Art were discussed.
The music was great.
Picnic tables were discussed and the quantity provided.
The new layout was discussed and how it worked.
Some great new Artists participated.
Six children displayed on Saturday and only two on Sunday. Next time we need more space and only allow
one Artist per table.

Food trucks were discussed for future events.
Better signage and Artist names needed for the booths.
Photography was great for the event.
Food Vendors need to be discussed and finalized before the event.
Advertising was discussed. Where did she advertise? Did the commission see anything? Next time we need
samples of the print before it goes out to advertise.
The commission discussed the Commission running the Art in the Park or should they continue with an Event
Coordinator. This will be discussed further at the next meeting.
Bruce Bondy volunteered to talk to Brian at the Northshore Art League and discuss their event and coordinator and
bring the information back to the commission. Chairman Laughlin will talk to the Glenview Art League.
The commission discussed and agreed upon July 15th and 16th, 2017 for the next Art in the Park event.

sponsor grant money.
