Looking for suggestions/advice on:
Layout
Ease of use
Information—is anything missing?
Is this a website students would visit?
o Once finalized/approved, all agencies represented in the subcommittee should provide
a link to the site
The Schools should also be contacted regarding adding a link to the website
onto their own sites
Mission Statement
o The subcommittee read through the draft mission statements prepared by Chair Wehr
and Sari Glazebrook
o With some minor modifications, the following was approved by the subcommittee:
Northbrook Cares is a Village-wide initiative designed to identify and connect our youth
and families facing crisis with local support resources. Our goal is to link people to the
best available service organizations for their needs.
o Chair Wehr brought up the “Glenview Northbrook Youth Coalition”
o This was a group which was mentioned to Chair Wehr by the High School as it
sounded similar to the mission of Northbrook Cares
o Chair Wehr will be reaching out to the coordinator of the Coalition to find out more
information
What is the mission/objectives of the Coalition?
Are there areas where we could partner?
Publicity
o At the last subcommittee meeting, members discussed launching the website at the last
GBN home football game on October 18
Depending on what input is received at the Student Advisory Board on October
3, it may be too quick of a turn-around to have the website ready for October 18
o Joy Stuart noted that she had reached out to NorthShore Graphics and Marketing
Solutions regarding some marketing/publicity items
Bracelets (with website)
Printing/flyers
Next Steps:
Bruce Doughty mentioned that the committee’s next steps should be:
o Presenting the website to the Student Advisory Board and making the necessary
adjustments
o Reaching out to the Glenview Northbrook Youth Coalition to find out more information
about their purpose and determining whether or not Northbrook Cares should propose
combining forces
In regards to the second point, Shannon LeMaster-Smith noted that we could
share approaches and resources, but perhaps keep our separate names
When the website is ready to launch, a press release will need to be drafted and promoted by
each of the agencies represented on the subcommittee
o Schools, Houses of Worship and the Service Agencies should also be provided with the
information
In an upcoming meeting, the subcommittee will need to discuss budget
o What does the subcommittee need to budget for?
o Should each agency on the subcommittee make a contribution?
Chair Wehr summarized the subcommittee’s next steps:
o Presentation on October 3
o Clarification from Glenview Northbrook Youth Coalition
o Determination on October 18 launch
