Minutes CRC Black History Month Subcommittee Meeting October 15, 2013 Place: North Suburban YMCA 2705 Techny Road, Northbrook Time: 7 p.m. BHM Subcommittee Participants: Rochelle Singer, Chair Ron Mantegna, CRC Howard Schultz, Director NSYMCA (absent due to illness) Christine Beeflink Kandice Cooley Joy Ebhomielen Nicole Farris Paula Haynes Agenda: 1. Introductions 2. Brief outline of past programs 3. Brainstorming of ideas for the 2014 BHM event scheduled for February 15, 2014. Program Plan: BHM Program Date: Wednesday, February 26, 2014 Place: NSYMCA Gym Time: 6 – 8:30 p.m. Program Focus: Contemporary application Multi-media approach Educational Stories of the roots of the North Shore Black population Program Title/Content: Journeys Entertaining, engaging, powerful personal stories of Black Americans’ journeys to the North Shore of Chicago. Stories presented via rap, song, poetry, Video and more. Target Audience: All ages, with a particular outreach to older youth Program Structure: 6 – 6:30 Food. Meet and greet 6:30 -7:45 (est.) Presentations 7:45 – 8:30 Audience questions/discussion Committee Tasks Each committee member volunteered for tasks to be completed by the next meeting.
