24 3. Discussion of program focus & conclusions:
25 1. Contemporary application based on history of Black Americans
26 2. Target audience: All ages; families; Northbrook and other north suburban
27 communities; All races
28 4. Discussion of the goal of the BHM program
29 It was agreed that the core goal of the program is to foster knowledge, understanding,
30 acceptance and appreciation of the Black community.
31 5. Brainstorming of ideas for the 2015 BHM event scheduled for February 2015.
32 The committee used a list of ideas that had been prepared in advance to begin the
33 brainstorming. One idea in particular immediately came to the forefront and was
34 enthusiastically supported by the committee.

36 Program Idea to be pursued:
37 o Invite the Jackie Robinson West Little League team, the coaches and
38 parents to discuss their experiences and answer questions. One object
39 will be to compare and contrast their experiences with those of
40 Northbrook little league teams, coaches and parents.
41 o Invite Northbrook Little Leagues team members, coaches and parents
42 as part of the audience to help expand the conversation during the Q &
43 A portion of the program.
44 o The overall theme of the evening will be baseball with respect to the
45 food, music and other planned items. The program will have a
46 multimedia approach. Specifics to be finalized if the JRW group
47 accepts the invitation.

50 BHM Program Date: To be determined. Depends upon availability of the program
51 participants, and if the participants accept the invitation.
52 Place: To be determined. Most likely the NSYMCA
53 Time: Anticipated: 6 – 8:30 p.m.
