Call to Order / Purpose of Meeting.
Chairman Kosla called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. in Room 2 of the Northbrook Public
Library. The purpose of the meeting was to plan for the April 19th Interfaith Sunday which is a
joint-event sponsored by both NBCR and the NB Clergy Association. We agreed to follow the
same general format for the event as in years past. Chairman Kosla will ask the Clergy
Association to contribute funding toward the event, and will also ask for greater participation
from the Houses of Worship.

Hear from the Audience.
There was no outside person in attendance.

Timing of Events / Locations.
The event will kick-off at 12:30 pm at a place to be determined – people will be given
passports with maps and information about the participating Houses of Worship, free
t-shirts, and as folks gather, we will be lead in song with the theme of “Sing for Peace.”
Alice will see if her church Deacon can lead folks in song and provide words for easy-to-
sing appropriate songs. We plan to invite Ray Wehr, Melissa Earley (president of Clergy
Assoc.), and Sandy Frum to give brief comments. Mary Hansen will be in touch with the
Park District to see if Greenbriar Gym, Sportsman’s, or West Park are available, and if
not, what other venues are possible, and the costs associated with the available venues.
Participating Houses of Worship will be open for visitors from 1-4 pm (timing to be
approved by the Clergy Association). Spiritual Assembly of Bahái's will be at Village
Hall.
From 4:00-5:30 there will be a gathering at Village Hall for a trivia contest with prizes,
free pizza slices, water. We anticipate up to 125 participants for the pizza event. Bob
Lozaro will update Trivia questions regarding NB history, and info on religious
organizations. We will work with Clergy Association on these matters.

Free Items/Food.
We had a lengthy discussion of appropriate giveaways. The majority agreed that T-Shirts will be
handed out again because they get worn around town, and can be used in advance of the event to
help publicize it. This assumes there will be adequate funding available. We will not seek
donations / or payments for food or other items. Bob Lozaro will contact the Police and Fire
Departments seeking trinkets to hand-out to contest winners. Bob also volunteered to order the
pizza slices. Chris will check on sources for inexpensive bottled water. Our sub-committee will

bake cookies / treats to hand out and will seek additional contributions from Community
Relations members.

Flyer / Banners / Outreach.
Chairman Kosla had a sample flyer from last year. He will work with Michael Strong for
Village help with printing once the Flyer is updated, and will also see if Banners from 2013 are
available to re-use. Ron Mantegna will help with P.R. Mary Hansen will get the word out to
youth organizations and religious education classes. Alice will arrange with her church for space
at Cherry and Western for a banner.

Passports.
These will be updated – working with the Clergy Association once we have firm commitments
from the participating Houses of Worship. Alice will help Chris obtain greater participation. At
our last Interfaith Sunday, in 2013, we had commitments from about 13 out of 23. Rochelle
Singer will order stamps. We may print in the Passport the words to the songs to be sung during
the gathering time.

Next meeting will be Thursday, February 12th, and Commissioner Kosla will notify us of the
place.

The meeting concluded at 8:35 pm.

Respectfully submitted,
Alice Lonoff
