MINUTES OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY CONTROL COMMISSION VILLAGE OF NORTHBROOK March 17, 2016 Chairman Reynolds called the EQC meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. in the Shermer Study of the Northbrook Village Hall, 1225 Cedar Lane. The following Members were in attendance: Chairman Jeremy Reynolds, Dale Duda, Tara Wesselink, Michael Beeftink and Brian Bruce. A full quorum was met. Also Present: Staff Liaison Emily Creer and Assistant to the Village Manager, Erik Jensen Members absent: Members Marjorie Satten and Scott Robson Minutes The minutes of the February 18, 2016 meeting were reviewed. On a voice vote, the motion to approve the minutes as amended passed unanimously. Chairman’s Report There was a discussion regarding having Advanced Disposal speak to the group regarding recycling. Staff Liaison Creer will be contacting the company. There was a discussion of coal tar bans in the community of Lake in the Hills. Citizen Concerns Hear from the Audience Mary Hanson, citizen’s climate lobby, discussed a disposal fee on carbon. There was also a discussion of GMOs. Village Monarch Project Update Member Duda presented language for the signage. She also discussed the amount of milkweed that had been purchased. Green Building Ordinance No additional comments were provided on the ordinance. Member Bruce stated he would provide a final copy to staff for review. Community Garden Member Bruce discussed the opening of a new site at the Temple Beth-El. The site would be available to non-Northbrook residents. Earth Day Update Member Duda demonstrated the materials that would be present at the upcoming Earth Day event including: finger puppets, posters, a kite and handouts. New Business No new business was discussed. Next Meeting The next regular meeting of the EQC will be held on April 21, 2016.
