MINUTES OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY CONTROL COMMISSION VILLAGE OF NORTHBROOK April 21, 2016 Member Beeftink called the EQC meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. in the Shermer Study of the Northbrook Village Hall, 1225 Cedar Lane. The following Members were in attendance: Dale Duda, Tara Wesselink, Michael Beeftink, Scott Robson and Brian Bruce. A full quorum was met. Also Present: Staff Liaison Emily Creer Members absent: Members Marjorie Satten and Jeremy Reynolds Minutes The minutes of the April 17, 2016 meeting were reviewed. On a voice vote, the motion to approve the minutes as amended passed unanimously. Chairman’s Report There was no Chairman’s Report. Citizen Concerns Hear from the Audience Becky Osaif, a resident of Crestwood Place, indicated there is now only paper recycling occurring at the residence and requested the Village take action and provide additional opportunities. She was directed to speak with the senior services commission regarding her concerns. Steve Schnowski spoke about site remediation issues with the 1000 Skokie site and he was directed to speak directly to the Village Board about his concerns. Village Monarch Project Update Commissioner Duda provided information on the Monarch presentations that recently occurred. There was a discussion of the signs and a proof was shown to members of the Commission. Staff will be obtaining additional quotes and reviewing the language of the signs. Community Garden Commission Bruce stated he is currently waiting on paperwork from Temple Beth-El to establish the third site. He also stated that the water at the Village Hall is being turned on and compost deliveries are occurring at both sites. A fence will also be installed at the Temple Beth-El site. New Business There was a discussion regarding the use of plastic water bottles at Earth Day and staff was directed to seek out alternative solutions. Next Meeting The next regular meeting of the EQC will be held on May 20, 2016. Adjourn Member Beeftink made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:44 p.m. The motion was seconded Member Robson.
