DRAFT MINUTES OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY CONTROL COMMISSION VILLAGE OF NORTHBROOK June 16, 2016 Chairman Reynolds called the EQC meeting to order at 7:08 p.m. in the Shermer Study of the Northbrook Village Hall, 1225 Cedar Lane. The following Members were in attendance: Dale Duda, Tara Wesselink, Michael Beeftink, and Scott Robson. A full quorum was met. Also Present: Staff Liaison Emily Creer Members absent: Members Jeremy Reynolds and Brian Bruce Minutes The minutes of the May 26, 2016 meeting were reviewed. On a voice vote, the motion to approve the minutes as amended passed unanimously. Chairman’s Report There was no chairman’s report. Citizen Concerns Hear from the Audience No audience members were present. Village Monarch Project Update Member Duda stated that she will be presenting a written report that will provide updates on the Monarch Project at the next meeting. She also stated that Reds Garden Center is having a butterfly festival in the third weekend in July and on July 17th there will be a butterfly release. The wrap up meeting for the Monarch Project is being rescheduled. Staff Liaison Creer was directed to determine if information on the Monarch Project can be added to the Village website. Community Garden No report was given. Terracycle Staff Liaison Creer stated the Village needs more information before moving forward with the project. The Commission determined it would like to begin with chip bags to be collected at the Fleet Maintenance Garage behind Village Hall. Citizen’s Climate Lobby Member Wesselink stated the issue has been brought before the Village Board. New Business Staff Liaison Creer presented information about compost tumblers that could be provided at a discounted price if the Commission was interested in the supporting the project. The Commission determined more information was needed. There was also a discussion about promoting rain barrels and the upcoming Farmer’s Market. Next Meeting The next regular meeting of the EQC will be held on August 18, 2016. Adjourn Member Beeftink made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:50 p.m. The motion was seconded by Member Wesselink. On a voice vote, the motion passed.
