MINUTES OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY CONTROL COMMISSION VILLAGE OF NORTHBROOK December 15, 2016 Chairman Reynolds called the EQC meeting to order at 7:05 in the Shermer Study of the Northbrook Village Hall, 1225 Cedar Lane. The following Members were in attendance: John Albrecht, Tara Wesselink, Michael Beeftink, and Jeremy Reynolds. A full quorum was met. Also Present: Staff Liaison Emily Creer Members absent: Members Duda, Bruce and Robson Minutes The minutes of the November 17, 2016 meeting were not reviewed, but will be reviewed at the January 13, 2017 regular meeting. Chairman’s Report The new member, John Albrecht, was introduced to the Commission. The Commissioners provided briefing introductions. Citizen Concerns Hear from the Audience No Audience members were present at the meeting. Village Green Business Award Member Albrecht agreed to take the lead on the project and stated he would be reaching out to other communities that have similar programs. Heritage Tree Program Staff Liaison Creer stated the Village does not maintain a database for private protected trees and suggested this information be presented on the new Village website. The Commission directed staff to further investigate the option for a database as well as producing a heritage tree pamphlet. New Business Staff Liaison Creer provided background information about where the Village is currently at with the Proposed Amtrak Hiawatha service increase. She stated the Village Manager is currently working with WIDOT and IDOT on the project. Earth Day plans were also discussed including eliminating plastic water bottles from the event and having terracycling at both the recycling center and the celebration located at Village Green. Next Meeting The next regular meeting of the EQC will be held on January 15, 2017. Adjourn Member Wesselink made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:21p.m. The motion was seconded by Member Beeftink a voice vote, the motion passed.
