Call to Order 36 Chairperson Slawson-Martens called the meeting to order at 7:07PM in the Board Room of 37 Village Hall, 1225 Cedar Lane. A quorum was present. 38 39 2. Welcome 40 Commissioner Slawson-Martens welcomed everyone to this evening’s Youth Commission 41 meeting. 42 43 3. Approval of Meeting Minutes 44 Changes to January 28, 2015 meeting minutes were as follows: 45 Page 2 line 12 change “nad” to “and” 46 Page 3 line 18 rephrase “the library theater will not be available for the film fest” 47 Page 2 Minutes of the January 28, 2015 Youth Commission Meeting 1 Commissioner Whitlock moved, seconded by Commissioner Bosacoma, to approve the minutes 2 of the January 28, 2015 Youth Commission meeting with noted changes. On a voice vote, the 3 motion unanimously carried. 4 5 4. Hear from the Audience 6 There was no audience. 7 8 5. 2014/15 Upcoming Calendar of Events 9 Lake Cook Terrace Visit 10 Liaison Batalden stated that he spoke with the Activities Director at Lake Cook Terrace/The 11 Grove and that March 18th does not work well with their schedule. The AD stated that Mondays 12 and Tuesdays are generally better. The AD also stated that the activities we were planning 13 sounded fine, but, of course, will depend on the residents who attend the event. 14 15 Commissioner Christenson suggested changing the date of the visit to March 17th. Discussion 16 was held regarding the feasibility of planning a visit on St. Patrick’s Day. 17 Liaison Batalden will contact Lake Cook Terrace/The Grove to inquire about that date. 18 19 Commissioner Osinski moved to visit Lake Cook Terrace/The Grove on March 17 from 7:00pm- 20 8:15pm. Commissioner Whitlock seconded and, on a voice vote, the motion carried. 21 22 6. Old Business 23 Film Fest 24 Commissioner Whitlock stated that he is awaiting a response from Glenbrook North High School 25 regarding the availability of the Theater on May 28th. He has also reached out to Matt Irvin, last 26 year’s guest speaker, to inquire about participating again this year. He also sent the film 27 submission form to Cheryl Fayne-DePersio at the Village Hall for placement on the Village 28 website along with other pertinent information about the event. He stated that we are on track, 29 relative to last year’s planning schedule. 30 31 Liaison Batalden reminded the commission of the opportunity to volunteer at the Village’s Earth 32 Day event on April 25th. He also invited the commission to attend and/or volunteer at the 33 Community Relations Commission’s Black History Month event this coming Saturday. The CRC 34 has invited the Jackie Robinson West Little League team to the North Suburban YMCA to share 35 their championship experience. 36 37 7. New Business 38 There was no new business. 39 40 8. Quiz Bowl Rehearsal 41 The Commission ran through the schedule of events for the 2015 Quiz Bowl event on February 42 26, 2015 and reviewed each commissioner’s role for that event. 43 44 9. Next Meeting 45 The next meeting will be March 18, 2015, when the Quiz Bowl rehearsal will take place. 46 47 10.
