OLD BUSINESS
New model for CALEA onsites is still evolving. Chief Palmer participated in
conference call regarding the changes and revised process. It appears the initial
accreditation and then the first reaccreditation will continue under the current
system, and then the subsequent reaccreditations may rotate between original
and revised processes provided no significant issues are noted.
Program manager for all northeast agencies is now Steve Mitchell. Karen
Shepard is now the Onsite manager for all onsites being scheduled.
Chief Palmer discussed the document management software Power DMS. He
noted that there is an article in the current CALEA Update that discussed the
software. The vendor will be at the July conference.
CALEA Assessor selection process and training discussed.
CALEA onsite schedule for December is full. Agencies are being moved to
November and October. System is evolving but appears more flexible although
in the past there was not an issue with scheduling.
POST Assessor training is scheduled for June 8th.
Ted LeMay reports that there are 28 accredited agencies in the state system and
47 who are either in the process or are discussing joining the process.
NEW BUSINESS
Discussion on value of accreditation related to insurance and liability reductions
as well as how to institutionalize the process.
