Five Mile River Commission October 17, 2024 Meeting Minutes In attendance: Matt Marion (Chairman) Craig Jung (Commissioner) Garth Griffiths (Harbor Superintendent) Absent: John deRegt (Commissioner) Wim Jessup (Commissioner) Guests: Tim Moran, Darien Tim Walsh, Norwalk Dirk Schwarz, Norwalk The Five Mile River Commission commenced its regularly scheduled meeting at the Rowayton Community Center at 6:02 p.m. Messrs. Marion and Jung discussed the following items: (i) S/Y KATE (with Mr. Walsh and Mr. Schwarz); (ii) the identification of dock owners on both sides of the Five Mile River for harbor use fee assessments; (iii) the planned drone survey of the mooring field after the moorings are vacated; (iv) a proposed letter to the DOT regarding traffic accidents near Five Mile River Rd.; (v) the 2025 mooring application and use fee forms; (vi) proposed ‘No Wake’ signage at the harbor mouth in 2025; (vii) the recovery of missing files from former Harbor Superintendent Bartush; and (viii) the preparation of a draft budget for 2025 maintenance work related to Commission-owned buoys and navigation aids in the river. The Commission then noted/discussed the following items in Harbor Superintendent Griffiths’ October report: (i) the relocation of certain 2024 mooring permittees and addition of others in 2025; (ii) the end of season review of the mooring field, including potentially vacant moorings; (iii) the restoration of the second transient boater mooring for 2025; and (iv) mooring map updates. With no further business, the Commission adjourned its meeting at 7:12. The Commission’s next scheduled meeting will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, commencing at 6:00 p.m. at Rowayton Community Center, 33 Highland Avenue, Norwalk, Ct.
