CALL TO ORDER
Mr. Shockley called the meeting to order at 10:07 a.m. He said that the Mayor had been
delayed by a press conference.

MEETING MINUTES
** MR. IANNACCONE MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF OCTOBER
7, 2009 AS PRESENTED.
** MS. GRIFFING SECONDED.

CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER UPDATE; CONNIE BLAIR
Ms. Blair said that there were no additional announcements, but added that there had
been a question about H1N1. She said that there was a tab on the City website for current
information on the H1N1 virus.
Ms. Abraham said that there was a problem on Davenport Street regarding the cars being
repaired on private property. Ms. Blair said that she thought it might be something for
Planning and Zoning to look into. Mr. Hayducky made a note of the address and said
that he would have someone check the site.

Mr. Iannaccone reiterated that having house numbers on the buildings is important for the
fire fighters and the first responders. It is a city ordinance.
Mr. Shockley said that the City was still in the process of becoming a Keep America
Beautiful associate. He then reviewed the process that is used for a litter index and that
this study will be done later in the month.
Mr. Shockley said that that the South Norwalk Community Center will be having a
Thanksgiving dinner at NEON for those who might not have a place to go.
Neighborhood Representatives.
Village Creek – Ms. Powell said that she would like to thank DPW for removing a large
TV that was dumped. The couch that was dumped in the marsh was a bit of a challenge.
The staff removed what they could, but they don’t have the equipment that enables them
to haul the couch out of the soft mud of the marsh.
West Main Neighborhood Association – Ms. Abraham said that the developer has started
on the project and the ground breaking will be next Friday. Ms. Abraham said that she
lived on Jefferson and that the construction is blocked off on Summer Street. She
suggested that a sign saying that Summer Street is blocked off should be posted further
down to prevent people from driving all the way down the street to Jefferson Street and
finding out that they can’t go on to Summer Street. Officers Cotto and Resnick said that
they would look into this and see if this could be improved.
Golden Hill Association – Ms. Griffing reported that there were no problems.
Stuart Avenue – Mr. Raymond said that Stuart Avenue is good. The paving is done.
Spring Hill/Hospital Neighborhood Association – Mr. Raymond thanked the Mayor,
DPW and said that after two and a half years the eight maple trees have been planted on
the State property along Van Buren and Maple Street.
Lt. Resnick introduced Sgt. Lisa Cotto and said that she was now in Community
Services. This department works on crime prevention, community relationships and other
issues.
Mr. Shockley said that he had printed out the upcoming meeting dates for the members of
the Task Force.
Ms. Powell said that Village Creek is being listed on the National Registry of Places.

Lt. Resnick said that he had the opportunity to visit Village Creek and was very
impressed with the beauty of that neighborhood. Mr. Raymond suggested that perhaps
the Community Officers could visit the other neighborhood groups.
Mayor Moccia joined the meeting at 10:30 a.m.
Lt. Resnick reiterated how the conversation about visiting Village Creek neighborhood
happened for the Mayor.
Ms. Becker said that she had some concerns about a house where the resident recently
passed away and the account was in the newspaper. Lt. Resnick said that he would
request extra observation on the property.
Ms. Hanrahan asked about a recent traffic study grant for $500,000. The Mayor said that
he did not recall the exact amount, but believed it was for Safe Routes to Schools grant.
Ms. Hanrahan said that her neighborhood group would be interested
Laura from DPW said that there had been a number of questions about green bins. The
announcement will be put in every blue bin next week.
The Mayor said that he had spoken with Mr. Gianitti from the Public Schools about the
green bin recycling. The word is getting out. Every container that can be recycled is one
less container in the garbage. The Mayor said that he had spoken to The Hour about
having an article in a prominent place in the newspaper.
Ms. Griffing said that she had promised her neighborhood members recycling bins but
when they went to pick them up, the only bins available were the green ones. Ms. Blair
reviewed the process for recycling and DPW’s suggestion that the residents use the green
bins for paper and place the blue bins with the plastics, metals and glass on top of the
green bins.
Lt. Resnick said that there had been a problem with a parking lot on Aiken Street during
the election where the lights were out. He called CL&P and they had someone there
quickly to replace the light bulbs.
Ms. Becker said that the upcoming Art Spot would be for Columbus School students,
Thursday, November 19th.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no more business to discuss, Mr. Shockley adjourned the meeting at 10:50
a.m.
