IX. Regular Agenda
A. MOT 25-262 A Motion to Select and Finalize the Preferred Concept for the Oak Park
Municipal Campus and Direct Staff to Return to the Village Board with a
Final Option to Advance to Schematic Design
Overview: Johnson Lasky and Kindelin Architects, along with the schematic design team,
will share two conceptual design options while highlighting the financial and
operational advantages and disadvantages of each option. The design options
presented in February 2025, guided by best practices and priorities established
during the Design Charrette, had to be further refined due to rising
construction costs and fiscal constraints. As part of the presentation, the
design team will discuss the reduced cost options, vetted by the Police
Department and Village Hall staff, that achieve meaningful cost savings while
preserving the core vision and essential programmatic functions of the original
designs.
B. RES 25-310 A Resolution Authorizing the Submission of Two Illinois Department of
Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) Grant Applications with
Requested Funding Amounts of $1,000,000 and $400,000 for the Oak Park
Municipal Campus Project and Approval of Any Subsequent Agreements
and Authorizing Their Execution
Overview: In 2025, the State of Illinois approved two separate appropriations from the
Build Illinois Bond Fund, administered by the Illinois Department of Commerce
and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), to be used by the Village of Oak Park for
costs associated with the remodeling of Village Hall and the construction of a
new Police Station. Village staff plan to utilize the $1,000,000 appropriation for
Village Hall courtyard envelope improvements and the $400,000 appropriation
for the acquisition of property associated with the new Police Station.
