On the form, those wishing to speak must provide their name and address, the number of the agenda item, and the purpose of their remarks (example: “Oppose the item”). Please write your name legibly, as the presiding officer will use this form to call your name when it is your turn to speak. Residents may also address the Council on individual concerns not listed on the agenda by signing up to speak under the “Citizens to be Heard” item, which appears at the end of the agenda. Declared candidates for a position on the City Council may not speak regarding their candidacy, nor may any speaker campaign in favor of or against an item that has already been placed on a ballot for consideration by the voters of Oklahoma City. Generally, in taking action on any listed agenda item, the Council may adopt, approve, ratify, deny, defer, recommend, accept, amend, strike, table, continue, or take any other action provided for in the Council’s adopted rules. One exception to this pertains to items with statutory requirements for notice or action, such as applications for rezoning, which must be introduced and heard before other actions can be taken.
