Discussion on proposed changes to the F&P Commission Rules and Regs (Chapters 9 - 12) Deputy Chief Buzzard discussed the proposed changes to chapters 9-12. The proposed changes are as listed: • General cleanup of abbreviations, grammar, and capitalization usage throughout Chapters 9- 12. • Chapter 9, Article 1, Section 2 Special Qualifications - Addition of Fire Service Vehicle Operator (FSVO) as a probation requirement. • Chapter 9, Article 1, Section 3 Physical and Medical Requirements - Changed CPAT/LC test date to be tied to the application, not the written exam • Chapter 9, Article 3, Section 2 Notice of Written Examinations - Changed date to date(s) • Chapter 9, Article 3, Section 3 Examinations for FF Candidates - Added Language for “perpetual standing call for applications.” • Chapter 9, Article 4, Section(s) 1 & 2 Written Test - Added Language for online written examinations. • Chapter 9, Article 5, Section 1 Initial Eligibility List - Changed CPAT/LC test date to be tied to the application. • Chapter 9, Article 5, Section 2 Final Eligibility List - Changed preference points to just “points.” • Chapter 9, Article 5, Section 3 Selection of Candidates - Added “Recognition of Completion” (ROC) through OSFM in addition to BOF Certification. • Chapter 9, Article 7 Expiration of List - Replaced language to account for the option to update lists as often as the F&P Commission determines necessary. • Chapter(s) 10 & 11 - Made Local and VOP names consistent as cited in different chapters. Discussion on changes made to the Police testing and hiring process (Chapter 5) Commissioner Nallen asked the other Commissioner about the pros and cons of the changes that were made to Chapter 5 about a year ago. All Commissioners indicated that they were satisfied with the process but would like to know why someone did not make it pass the staff interview round. E. Discussion on the timeline of the 2026 Sergeant Promotional Process Deputy Chief Calanca discussed the timeline for the Sergeant testing process.
