Similar to the second set of bunker gear, the acquisition of a second helmet liner and pad set will allow firefighters to replace contaminated helmet components immediately following a fire or exposure. Providing clean, dry liners reduces prolonged contact with carcinogenic and biological contaminants, directly supporting our post-incident decontamination initiative and overall firefighter health and safety. After the initial bulk purchase to establish the program, replacement helmet liners will become standard issue equipment for all new Palatine Fire Department firefighters through the PFD Quartermaster system. All the stations could use a new blower that is effective. The old ones do not move anything and the battery dies quickly, before the job is done. I've used this model and it works very well.
