City of Pekin PROCEEDINGS OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PEKIN, ILLINOIS, HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF CITY HALL 111 S. CAPITOL ST ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2025 AT 8:30 AM DENNIS SHORT, CHAIRMAN PRESIDING Call to Order Approve Agenda A motion was made by Commissioner Jaskiewicz to approve the agenda. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Mulvey, all approved. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Commissioner Jaskiewicz to approve the September 25th, 2025, meeting minutes. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Mulvey, all approved. 3.1. Minutes from the September 25th, 2025 Meeting Public Input Consent Agenda A motion was made by Commissioner Jaskiewicz to approve the consent agenda. The motion was seconded by Commission Mulvey, all approved. 5.1. FD - Pre-employment exam, $1,072.12 5.2. PD - Pre-employment exam, $103.50 Unfinished Business New Business 7.1. FD - Probationary Reports One firefighter came off of probation and he and another firefighter are currently in the paramedic program and doing well. There are two firefighters in the academy and are receiving decent reports. The department just hired  one lateral transfer and he will be starting shift work next week. They will potentially be asking for an approval to hire letter in the near future. 7.2. PD - Probationary Reports There are two officers in the FTO program and are progressing nicely. The department will be hiring one new officer who will go to the police academy in a couple of weeks. Command received notice of one officer retiring in January and will be looking for permission to hire a new officer in the near future.
