Public Comments (Each speaker will be limited to 3 minutes)
Council member Dave Nutter brought up concerns with parking before and after school
on Autumn Drive. He discussed an almost incident that occurred to which the citizen
had called in as well. He reiterated that there is a strong request for a no parking from
here to corner sign to help prevent incidents like this from happening. Mr. Nutter also
addressed concerns about school buses going into the Florence Ave. apt to turn
around. This is private property and buses are not supposed to be using their area.
Unfinished Business
5.1. No Parking Here to Corner Sign Request - Autumn Drive
The committee discussed this area and the ongoing problem of traffic parking
on both sides of the street for school bus drop off and pickups. A citizen had
called earlier that week because they had a near run-in with a child in this
area. The committee discussed the request for a specific sign and determined
it may be safer for this area to have signs on both sides of the street. A
motion was made by John to implement new signage in accordance with the
city ordinance. The motion was seconded by Brian W., all approved.
New Business
6.1. Stop Sign Request - Sherwood and Edgewood
The committee discussed this area and reviewed crash data from the last five
years. It was the consensus of the committee to leave this area as is, with
continued enforcement. A motion was made by John to continue enforcement
with no additional signage in this area. The motion was seconded by Brian
W., all approved.
6.2. Stop Sign Request - Country Club Dr. and Sheridan
The committee discussed this area and crash data from the last five years.
The committee reviewed previous discussions with the engineering
department about how in order to make this area a four-way stop a new
ordinance would have to be in place. A motion was made by John to make a
new ordinance in accordance with a new four-way stop at this intersection.
The motion was seconded by Brian W., all approved.
6.3. No Entry Sign Request - Court St. turning left onto Reservoir Rd.
The committee discussed this area and crash data from the last five years.
Members of the committee said they've seen cars turn into the wrong lane
multiple times and agreed a no-entry sign would help to prevent incidents. A
motion was made by John to approve adding a no entry sign to the back of
the stop sign on Reservoir Rd. at Court St. The motion was seconded by
Brian W., all approved.
6.4. Line of Sight Concerns - Sunrise Ave. turning onto Tazewell St.
The committee reviewed this area and agreed this is a code enforcement
issue. Property owners are responsible for cutting back the shrubbery around
these corners. A motion was made by Brian W., to take this area to code
enforcement. The motion was seconded by John, all approved.
