2015-1717 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that on this second anniversary of
Robert’s passing the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the
brilliant light that Robert’s life was to those who knew him and loss of his life not only
as a loss to Robert’s family and friends, but as a loss to the entire Pittsburgh
community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does
hereby declare Friday, June 12th 2015 “Robert Perry-Nichols Day” in the City
of Pittsburgh.

2015-1718 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of
Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, June 13, 2015, to be “German Singing
Heritage Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

2015-1719 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of
Pittsburgh celebrates the accomplishments of this year’s LDI class and all past LDI
classes, and does hereby declare Tuesday, June 9th 2015 to be “Leadership
Development Initiative Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

2015-1720 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of
Pittsburgh does hereby convey our most sincere thanks and appreciation to all
people who have worked so tirelessly and have sacrificed much - from generation
to generation - to secure tolerance in our hearts and equality in the application of
our laws. We honor those who labor to secure the civil rights of all citizens of the
United States of America, no matter their sex, race, color, creed or sexual
orientation; the best any citizen can do to serve the nation. If happiness is the end
of government, then we celebrate the diversity of our community and happily
encourage the pursuit of securing equal rights for all citizens of the United States
of America; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh
encourages all to celebrate your uniqueness and appreciate the uniqueness of
others; to recognize that in our own special way we all contribute to the whole of
our social fabric. No matter our circumstance, we are all equal in our rights. In
recognition of these things, the Council does hereby declare June 9, 2015, to be
Civil Rights For All! ~ Diversity Is Our Strength! Day in the City of
Pittsburgh.

2015-1721 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh
does hereby declare Saturday, June 6, 2015, to be “ MEL AND MARCIA
SOLOMON DAY ” in the City of Pittsburgh.
A motion was made that this matter be Adopted. The motion carried.
2015-1722 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of
Pittsburgh declares the week of June 15, 2015 as Justice for Janitors week in
Pittsburgh in honor of the brave women and men who risked it all for justice and
dignity, prevailed in their righteous struggle and serve as an inspiration for workers
today.

2015-1715 Resolution further amending and supplementing Resolution No. 855 of 2011, entitled
“adopting and approving the 2012 Capital Budget and the 2012-2017 Capital
Improvement Program” by transferring $2,000 to Northside Common Ministries within
District 1 Neighborhood Needs.

A motion was made that this matter be Waived under Rule 8. The motion carried.

2015-1716
Resolution further amending Resolution 549, effective September 21, 2012 entitled
"providing for an agreement/s, or use of existing agreements and/or a contract/s, or
use of existing contracts, and for the purchase of materials, supplies, equipment,
and/or services for City Council Neighborhood Needs Program and providing for the
payment of the costs thereof", by transferring $2,000 to Northside Common
Ministries within District 1 Neighborhood Needs. Total cost of all projects is not to
exceed $437,779.53.

of Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000.00) in favor of LTMK, Inc., and one warrant in
the total sum of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) in favor of the Treasurer, City of
Pittsburgh as payment for unpaid financial obligations to the City on behalf of Estate of
Thomas J. Dempsey, Esquire, releasing and discharging the City of Pittsburgh from all
claims arising from alleged actions or omissions incident to real property identified as
No. 2 Doerr Street, Block and Lot Number 44-F-100 (Parcel
0044-F-00100-0000-00).

2015-1680 Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Director of the Department of Public Safety,
on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, to enter into a cooperative agreement or
agreements with various entities and/or individuals regarding a Safer Together
Pittsburgh program initiative entitled “Promised Beginnings” that facilitates parent
mentoring. Said agreement(s) shall be at no cost to the City.
A motion was made that this matter be Passed Finally. The motion carried by the
